Chairman's Letter

Hello friends-

This month, calendars are packed with Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo events. We also celebrate the fun diversion of college basketball’s March Madness. It seems a fitting theme given the economic climate right now.

With shifting tariffs and legislation, businesses are facing challenges as they navigate the new year. In addition, office valuations continued to slip in 2024, reports the Houston Business Journal.

But there are bright spots. A recent report by Realtor.com predicts that Texas will overcome California as the most populous state by 2045. People continue to move to the state for the climate, economy, jobs, and affordability. Speaking of the economy, there were announcements of high-profile tech (Apple) and manufacturing (Tesla) projects coming to the state that will no doubt add jobs.

A new Senate Bill, SB 29 aims to position Texas as a prime incorporation destination for publicly traded companies by offering enhanced protection against shareholder litigation. With the state’s new business courts, some speculate Texas may rival Delaware for incorporations.

March is also the designated month to honor women, their contributions, and achievements throughout history. To that end, we celebrate the successes and accomplishments of our female clients, attorneys, and administrative team.

Rest assured we are keeping tabs on the current economic and business climate. If you have questions or need assistance working though legislative changes this year, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us.

Sincerely,

Chris Hanslik
