When did you know you wanted to pursue a career in law?

I have a passion for helping other people. I am also highly competitive, enjoy being challenged, and perform best in an environment where those traits are emphasized. Before taking the LSAT and applying to law school, I received a lot of great advice and was told that working as an attorney would perfectly marry those traits. Five years into practicing, I couldn’t be happier to have followed that advice.

What practice areas do you have experience in, and what aspects of it do you find most interesting or challenging?

I practice in the Litigation Group. However, I also practice some real estate law and have experience in probate law and fiduciary litigation. The most interesting part of my practice is getting to know our clients and their stories; the most challenging/rewarding part is solving the problems they bring to us.

Can you share a memorable experience that has shaped your career?

I think any time you can creatively solve a problem for a client is a great and memorable moment. More importantly, the relationships borne from those situations last beyond the work. I defended a company and several of its officers in a highly contested trade secret, conspiracy, and breach of fiduciary duty case. Not only did we favorably resolve the lawsuit for our clients, but since that time, I’ve remained in touch with several of the individuals involved.

Tell us something people might not know about you.

Last year I visited Iceland for about 10 days. Iceland is breathtaking and has so much to offer. On one of my favorite days, we toured the Þrihnukagigur volcano, the only volcano in the world that has not collapsed after erupting. We went inside the volcano and walked around, which was over 1,200 feet below the entrance. I would highly recommend it!

What is a favorite book, podcast, movie or restaurant you have enjoyed lately?

The last book I read, which was phenomenal, was “Maybe you should talk to someone” by Lori Gottlieb. Some of my favorite movies to rewatch are Wedding Crashers, the Perks of Being a Wallflower, and the Breakfast Club.
