Spotlight: DePelchin Children’s Center

Chairman Chris Hanslik has served on the Board of Directors of the Texas Bowl for several years, including as former Chair. “I have enjoyed the opportunity to be involved in college football. Serving on the Texas Bowl board is important to me because it contributes in a meaningful way to the Houston community, both economically and charitably. I learned invaluable lessons playing football that I now use in work, life, and serving as an advisor on non-profit boards. It is gratifying to work with fellow board members, the bowl volunteers and the team at Lone Star Sports & Entertainment to promote our city as a major venue for college football and work with our charity partner.”

He points out the great work the Texas Bowl performs off the field, including supporting DePelchin Children’s Center since 2006. DePelchin Children’s Center is the leading center in Texas for foster care and adoption services. The Texas Bowl provides opportunities for bowl team members to connect with the kids and has donated over $1.6 million to the center to date.

In addition, the Texas Bowl provides an economic impact of approximately $40 million to the Greater Houston Area.
